The door core is made using what is commonly referred to as mineral core.  The core is non-asbestos and is a mix of materials including drywall and fiberglass.  These doors use specific stile and rail components. As the rating grows (45, 60, and 90) slightly larger stile and rail components are used to help achieve these designations. There are restrictions regarding lite kit sizes and the higher the minute rating the smaller amount of visible glass.
